Tell us a little about yourself

I’m a school librarian due to retire at the end of March and start a new life.

What do you use your bike for?

I use my bike for everything – commuting, shopping, going to choir and touring.

What do you love about cycling?

I love the fact that it’s cheap, I’m never late for anything and you get to see really interesting parts of London.

Where did you store your bicycle before you had a Bikehangar?

I have a TriMetals store at the back of my house but we are overflowing with bikes in our house and there was no room left so I decided to ask the council for a hangar.

Tell us why you love your Bikehangar?

I love the hangar because somehow, I got it placed outside my house (partly because others in the street didn’t want to look out at it despite the fact the street is lined with cars either side!) so I just step outside my front door and there it is. It’s convenient to use and much easier than getting the bike out of the TriMetal store at the back of the house.

What is your top tip for getting one on your street?

Try to get others on board in your street if you want a hangar – you are bound to find others who have a bike stored in their hall and need the space or want to start cycling – don’t be put off by the petrol heads who can’t understand why you’d want to take up a parking space with something that houses 6 bikes! (We don’t have a car). Get in with the local councillor who favours cycling and ask them to support you. Push, push and push again – you know it makes sense!
